Good thoughts, the “just some good thoughts” I support have always been centered in logic. That is why I have always been enamored with the beauty of God’s Word and the perfect, flawless logic on which it is based. Some weird religious beliefs aside, God’s heart for man, God’s perfect system, God’s inherent perfection has always and must always be rooted in logic. You can’t add in a little illogic or the whole system evaporates. For anything to be perfect, it must of necessity have no flaws, no dark side, no shadow of turning, no incongruent nor inharmonious note. That is why when a scenario plays out contrary to logic, and worse people defend the illogic, there has to be more at play. Some argue things as simple as a difference in opinion, but is it really that simple? If my views serve to degrade you or lessen you or hurt you or dim your shine in any way, are those views to be tolerated or advanced or gasp, be used to define you as Christian? Understanding that all of us are saved by grace, and unable to get to heaven by our own merits, can we argue plausibly or acquiesce quietly that those views are okay with our Creator? Simply entertaining that foul thought cannot be better than any other foul thoughts that need to be excluded. Words that divide and introduce false differences or levels or striations, presumably to make one feel above his brother, words that spew hatred and humiliation by daring to suggest God made one man superior to another; is any of that logical in any way? How many sign posts do you have to walk past before you go over the cliff? How much must you cough and sputter and stumble in desperation clinging to some insanely grand notion that there is a superior race when God made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell upon the face of earth. I can assuredly love you and not support your logic. I can disagree with you and after settling a bit, agree to disagree with you, but I lose a little light every time I find out that it is one of you that supports that error filled, evil rhetoric in the name of all or nothing politics where one side is always the evil one, when in reality both sides are. Where logic fails…
The reason we cannot make sense of it and if you are making sense of it, that’s scary, is because it does not make sense. How can men I admired and even loved agree with words and ideas that cut at the very heart of man, words that we all once knew came from evil? These people I trusted. I somehow concluded that if the Word lived in them it would shine a little brighter and lovingly nudge them away from such strong political opinions that have now morphed into agreement with hate speech, praise for hate speech, defense of hate speech. Again, logic fails. As sad as it seems to be, you have to look below the surface to understand what is really happening. Our conflict in life is never between people or groups of people or democrats and republicans or blacks and whites or richer versus poorer. Our conflict comes from the evil that is behind it and you don’t have to look very far when illogic starts holding sway. When a man’s character can be overlooked in favor of some other virtue, when once character was an indispensable value that should never be overlooked. By their fruits shall ye know them, urged our Creator, but apparently some fruit can be not seen for the promise of a better prize. The admonition came so that a man would not be deceived or caught up in a movement or led astray as long he trusted the fruit on display in a man or a woman’s life. A preponderance of rotten fruit is not and cannot be a fabrication of false media, else where was the good fruit? Fool me once. Fool me twice. But come on man! Yet saturated and dripping in corruption and decay, one is not only accepted but lauded with comparisons to Jesus Christ, as if God wanted a man in the Whitehouse and that was the best He could do! Logic fails. I can assure you if God put a man in the Whitehouse you would know it pretty quickly and would not have to close off two thirds of your vision in order to keep seeing what was ahead. Sadly, logic fails…
As surprising as it may seem, this blog has nothing to do with politics, but rather humanity. Politics, like religion is already chock full of crazies. This is an appeal, though unheard, to get back to the things God says are good thoughts and somehow extricate yourself from that evil, that leaven of Herod. I love people and care about people. I don’t mind paying my tax dollars for welfare if someone gets helped. Lord knows I needed help at times. I’m all for things that make any man’s life easier in some capacity. I feel no need to propel myself above you nor subjugate you in any way. And I’m damn capable of seeing insanity playing out before my eyes bundled in illogic and cruelty, in self preservation, in fear of losing something, in search for the good old days when you weren’t forced to deal with someone a little different than you. And the ultimately irony, that we are all pretty damn similar inside despite the shell God gave us. What you love and treasure, we love and treasure. We are all part of God’s creation. We are people put together to learn to love one another, to be kind to one another, to take care of one another. What other plan could God possibly have? He is perfect in every way. He can lead us through these perilous days where the wicked underbelly finally has a voice. And in the end, He will protect us if we lose a thousand friends in the process. These are good thoughts… Make sense?
