Did you know that most of which we lose as life progresses, we lose not to an aggressive theft, but rather to a deception. A deception is most effective when it is talking you out of something you already had. It’s never sudden or bold as it would likely cause us to wake up. Instead it’s subtle and quiet and most unassuming, until we realize something is gone. We are somehow a little less than we used to be. Not quite as capable or able, not in body, but in mind. A little less sure and a bit more apprehensive than we should be. And for whatever you lost; your health, your marriage, your happiness, your dreams, your freedom, a small part of your heart, you lost because you got talked out of it by a conman without a body. Undetected your thinking, your conclusions, your assumptions got contaminated, not enough to poison the whole pot, but enough to degrade the content. And the glory of who you once were, not only in your youth, you gave over to another. The part of this universe carved out only for you. The part that was your birthright. Each of us has access and opportunity to live our lives as our best selves. To be the man or woman we see when no one else is there. To trust ourselves as Emerson neatly penned, “To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men—that is genius” This is you and this is me. Have you been talked out of your own truth?
What stops you and I from making the progress and having the success we ought to have is allowing ourselves to get talked out of who we really are. There is no man or woman that escapes this diminution. It’s the voice that’s always questioning you, posing as you. It is making you aware of all your faults until you become aware of them on your own. It’s the great divider, dividing you against yourself. It’s you versus you in a world already provided for you; already freely given to you. You are not now any less magnificent, nor less God’s masterpiece than you once were. You just forgot about it. You fell asleep at your own switch. You got talked out of your own truth.
In order to recover, or I should say return, you have to get back the truth you got talked out of. Maybe you never knew the truth to begin with. But, it’s not just a nice expression that the truth shall set you free. It is powerful! It’s not that you don’t measure up. It’s that you think you don’t measure up. You’re limiting yourself by limiting yourself. You somehow arrived at a place much less than your old place. Piece by piece, chip by chip, your truth was removed from you. No person alive escapes this other than the perfect one that never let go of any of his truth. It is always a good day when, for whatever reason, the light comes on. Your heart is illuminated, if only for a brief moment in time. Just long enough to see it and in seeing it, do something about it. There’s no foul polluted root that ever needs to be left in once you know it’s in there. Once the weeds are gone, the life begins to flourish again. Expectations change. You start seeking the good, your good again instead of spending all your time running from the bad. You start to learn that fear is actually a liar and in ridding yourself of it’s grasp, you find your precious life again. You know the cause now and in refusing to feed it, its power wanes. You know your truth that was taken from you happened by that of which you were afraid. Get your truth back by getting rid of your fear.
This old life, appearing complex at times, is really not as complicated as we make it. We have added in too many variables and in so doing, added layers and reasons and superstitions where none ever existed before. Life always comes down to two things. Good and evil. There is no other choice. We don’t want evil, but end up choosing evil by our ignorance of the truth. We blindly accept things as true that are not true at all. Yet all have agreed that they are. What makes you, you, is your truth. It is the truth that defines who you are in your uniqueness. It is the truth you have assimilated for yourself. It’s the best you. It’s your highest version. It’s the unapologetic, finally stopped people pleasing, own your own loves and hates, you, wonderful, glorious you! It’s the liberated version. It’s the version of you that is no longer afraid. It is who God called you to be. It does not matter how far you think you may have fallen from grace. For grace to exist you cannot fall from it. Instead you can get back to embracing it. To finally free yourself from the tyranny of fear and expectation. To live life on your own terms because your Daddy owns the cattle on a thousand hills. That’s the life God called you to live with Him. Have you been talked out of your own truth? Then get it back. Get you back!
