Get Energized!

This will surprise many of you to learn that the spirit of God you received when you got born again needs to be manifested, utilized, activated, energized in order to help you prevail in life. While having the spirit of God guarantees you will live forever, it needs to be put into use. On the day of Pentecost, when the new gift of holy spirit was given, the first thing the new believers did was speak in tongues. Speaking in tongues is one of the nine manifestations of holy spirit. It is one of the nine ways you can use the power of God in your life. Absent that power in operation, your life will be more of a struggle. Speaking in tongues, also called perfect prayer, serves among other things to energize that spirit inside of you. Unlike holy spirit in the Old Testament, which came fully energized and could be lost, the spirit we receive today comes as potential power. It is potential power we can turn into active power by speaking in tongues and it cannot be lost. It is God’s solution for our day and time. However, how much we speak in tongues or if we have not yet even learned how to speak in tongues, is completely a function of free will. We can by our free will learn to speak in tongues and we can by our freedom of will determine how much we are going to do it. If you want the Ephesians 3:20 promise to come to pass, then you have to activate the power.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh (or is energized) in us” ~ Ephesians 3:20

As someone who tries to speak in tongues often, I can attest to the reality. Speaking in tongues has a way of refreshing you and reenergizing you. It also carries with it a calming effect that settles you down when you have gotten out of bounds. But, one thing it does for sure is energize that spirit (your spirit) within you. You need that power in your life. Much if not all of the attacks we face in life are spiritual. We are literally battling an opponent we cannot perceive. We have quite literally no idea about what is happening in the spiritual realm, but God does. When we pray in tongues, we do the speaking but God supplies the words. We can quite simply speak in a language or languages we did not know before. However, we do not know what the words mean. It is an unknown language to us. That is how God wanted it to be. I imagine some stuff we say might “burn our cookies” if you know what I mean. There is not and cannot be any selfishness or overt self interest in the prayers, as you might expect we do when we pray in our own language. It is perfect prayer. How much do we need perfect prayer? How much power do you want to use? How far can you go with God? Speaking in tongues is such an easy and natural thing to do. We remain in complete control of it. Yet operating it has the power to completely transform your life in ways you haven’t even considered yet. Speaking in tongues is a must do!

In order to move anything in this life, we need power. There is no power of the mind other than the power to make a decision. This isn’t “mind-power” we are talking about here. We are talking about power from God. Power to move unseen obstacles out of the way. Power to get to the root causes of things. Power to illuminate our understanding. Power to heal ourselves and others. Power that causes us to prevail in this life. Thus having the spirit alone is not enough. We can have unlimited dormant power living inside of us, but if we never use it nothing happens. You have lived long enough to know how that works. Speaking in tongues is like a built in booster engine. It is energy.  It turns on the lights. It gets the currents moving. It is a super power operated by free will choice. It’s like having a big brother that fights for you. God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or even consider, only limited by how much we choose to speak in tongues; how much we choose to energize our spirits. This is the more than abundant life promised to us in the bible. This is God’s plan for our lives.

One of the most beautiful things God has ever done for us is to give us holy spirit. He created a new spirit for every one of us that believed. He provided a real solution to the troubles and challenges we all face today. And He made it so simple. God would not leave us without power in this day and time and He did not. He gave us the operations of the spirit to help us prevail in this life. He made a way out. He gave us an equalizer and an overcomer so we could win. Don’t you want to win in life?
