Live Above It…

These are certainly some turbulent times we find ourselves in. There’s this manufactured divide with walls and beliefs and all or nothing logic; where if you are one thing you are ten things. It’s an odd time to be an American. It’s like you can see things going dreadfully south but there is nothing you can do about it. Both sides feel both anxious and hopeful, depending entirely upon which side you speak with. It’s a mess and I suspect that mess will turn into larger and larger dumps. So here is an honest thought. What exactly are you and I going to do about it? In the grand scheme of the grand thing, what are we going to do about it? I suspect not much. We really can’t effect that much change on our own. Yes, we can choose how we will live and keep love as our motive. Yes, we can make the best of it and choose happiness. But, in the end, the more time we spend head scratching, the more of our lives will have gone by. So, whats the answer? Live above it. You have to learn how to live above it all.

A solemn thought. Woe unto the man or woman trying to do this life thing alone. I don’t mean woe like going to a fictitious hell. I mean woe, woe, woe, how hard that must be. Imagine living your life completely at the whim of whatever happens or could happen. Try to picture being sick or someone you love being sick and there is no other option than a doctor. What about help and clarity concerning all of the most important things in life? I’m not going to even mention not getting your needs met, heart and otherwise. Here’s a happier thought. None of us were ever meant to navigate this thing alone. Not one of us. God’s expectation was and is that people would read all the signs pointing to Him and realize He might exist. Then, naturally they would pursue Him and in pursuing, find. This thing called life was supposed to be about a loving Father with His children. And like children do, ask Him to do things to help them and make their life better. So simple, yet so missed. You will never be successful in living above it until you enlist God’s help. After all, He is the One you are turning those negative things over to anyway. Live above it.

The true essence of living above it centers on the idea that we give all of our concerns to someone higher and more powerful. Then, knowing who we are and what we have, take rightful ownership of our lives. In a sense, we get above the muck and mire of the world and live on the high road where love not fear colors the picture. We become literally above the source of all the mess (referred to earlier) and live above it. Do you get it? Live above it. No longer subject to the multiple personality engendered mindset every day depending upon the news or the top worry or the President. Remember, you and I can’t much impact the price of eggs. Instead of drowning in that malaise, all day every day, scared to death about something you have no control over, why not choose to live above it? Why not leave the circus to the clowns with both blue and red noses. Why not reach up for something a little higher. Why not use your precious days living your best life, not your stressed out life. Live above it.

I would be remiss in answering this non-political blog without telling you what I think will happen in the future. I believe the same God that cares so well for me now will still be caring for me then. He hasn’t gone anywhere. He still answers prayers. Whenever things get crazy, God somehow works out things and we are okay. And for the record, good old America which I love, has always found a way to be resilient and recover. Something happens. Someone rises up. So why worry ourselves over things we cannot impact directly or what other people choose to do (or do to us). Yes, we stand for our beliefs. Yes, we stand up for things we believe in. Yes, we do not back down. But, you don’t spend all of your life in a fight. (Not that fight anyway) You can’t enjoy this thing showing up to fight every time. You’ll fizzle too early. Your light will burn out. Instead, learn how to live above it all. Stop investing your mind and heart. Fill it with just some good thoughts instead.
